Established in 1981, White Oak Winery, a small boutique winery, is dedicated to producing small quantities of distinguished lots. Our production is 10,000 cases of carefully crafted wines that reflect he uniqueness of the vineyards and climates of the northern California's Sonoma and Napa counties.

Meet the Winemaker
Our Winemaker Steve Ryan has been White Oak's winemaker since March of 1997. He has more than 10 years experience in the Sonoma wine industry. His winemaking style is a natural approach using indigenous yeast and minimal intervention, to highlight the uniqueness of each vineyard.

Steve was first introduced to, and developed a passion for fine wine while working in his uncle's wine shop. He earned his bachelors degree in Soil Science from the University of Minnesota where he was also employed as a research technician implementing and harvesting soil and plant research plots.

In 1987 Steve moved to Sonoma County where he worked at Marietta Cellars assisting the owner and winemaker Chris Bilbro. He continued to gain technical wine production experience at Dry Creek and Alderbrook wineries. In 1992, Steve became winemaker for Martinelli Vineyards where he made several wines that received national recognition. When the opportunity presented itself to work with longtime friend Bill Myers, and be part of the exciting new developments at White Oak, it was Martinelli's loss and our gain.
