Paradigm Vineyard is located in the Oakville District of Napa Valley. The property was purchased by Ren & Marilyn Harris in 1976 and was planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc and White Reisling at that time. The Harris’ purchased Paradigm intent on growing premium Bordeaux red varieties and have totally replanted the vineyard.

Three clones of Cabernet Sauvignon are planted on thirty-two of Paradigm’s acres along with three clones of Merlot on eighteen acres and one clone each of Cabernet Franc and Zinfandel divide the balance. Over five miles of drain lines underlay the Paradigm Vineyard, and this together with a unique trellis and drip irrigation system enable the vineyard owners to control the vine growth insuring optimum quality.

The vines are carefully pruned each year during the winter months, and the grape shoots and bunches tenderly positioned during the growing season to produce an evenly ripened crop at harvest. The grapes are hand picked into half ton bins at harvest time and taken to the winery immediately.

The vineyard is managed by John Silva, who has worked for the family since he arrived from Portugal in 1970. Louis Lopez, whose father once worked at Paradigm, is the crew foreman. Fernando Diaz and Pedro Martinez round out the vineyard crew.
