1948, our father, Mario Trinchero, brought us from New York City to the small
town of St. Helena in California's Napa Valley to begin new lives as vintners
at a winery called Sutter Home. In 1998, to celebrate our 50th anniversary in
Napa and to honor our father's memory, we introduced two ultra-premium Napa Valley
wines -- M. Trinchero Founder's Estate Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
For 35 years after we arrived in Napa Valley, we operated the quintessential mom-and-pop
winery. Then, White Zinfandel, which Bob created in 1972, took off, and we were
transformed, within a decade, from a tiny family winery into one of America’s
leading premium wine producers.
M. Trinchero Selection wines - Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot - are
produced from carefully selected north and central coast grapes. Derek chooses
the vineyards for the Selection program based on the authenticity and intensity
of the varietal and regional character they impart. He vinifies each vineyard
lot separately and then blends the best lots from different regions to accentuate
the finest characteristics of each, with the goal of achieving both varietal distinctiveness
and a pleasing complexity.
The reserve wines of the M. Trinchero brand, M. Trinchero Founder’s Estate Chardonnay
and Cabernet Sauvignon, are produced exclusively from Napa Valley grapes, with
the cabernet sauvignon fruit coming from our estate St. Helena vineyard and the
chardonnay coming from vineyards in southern Napa Valley, including several in
the cool Carneros District.
