Domaine Gérard Chavy stretches over three generations. Gérard’s father began with 6-7 hectares and now the domaine, run by Gérard and his two sons, Alain and Jean-Louis, covers 12 hectares. Vinification is in a mixture of tank and wood for the lesser cuvées with 12-18 months in oak for the finer wines. They are steadily increasing the percentage of the crop which they bottle themselves. First vintage bought: 1992.
The style of the domaine is to make fine and elegant Puligny Montrachets which start to show well after two to three years. The wines have been getting steadily classier in the last few years.
