Since 1912 the Osborn family have tended their 19th century vineyards at their d’Arenberg winery, located in McLaren Vale, South Australia.
The first of the now famous d’Arenberg red stripe labels was released in 1959.
d’Arenberg is a rustic place, some say old-fashioned. In the vineyards, we use next to no irrigation. Then, we handcraft the wine using the very gentle traditional basket presses and, in the case of our reds, small batch fermenters combined with the age-old technique of foot-treading.
This hands- on and feet-on approach to winemaking means we’re intimately in touch with the individual textures, flavours and characters of our wines. It’s a gentle, harmonious approach that ensures d’Arenberg wines are patiently and individually nurtured, giving our wines unforgettable personalities.
d’Arenberg is continuing to produce wines that are a credit to the winery,
McLaren Vale and Australia, and having a lot of fun doing so.
